Welcome to MoneyLine

MoneyLine is a personal finance and money management application developed by The Testing Zone.

MoneyLine helps you track your income, expenses, bills and available balance so you can see where your money stands now and what is coming next.

1. Getting Started

When you first open MoneyLine, follow the on-screen instructions to get started.

If MoneyLine requires an account or license, sign in using the email address and password associated with your The Testing Zone account.

After setup is complete, MoneyLine opens to the main dashboard.

2. Setting Your Starting Balance

Your Starting Balance represents the amount of money you have available before MoneyLine begins calculating your transactions.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Starting Balance.
  3. Enter your current balance.
  4. Save the change.

MoneyLine uses this amount along with your income, expenses and bills to calculate your balances.

3. Understanding Your Balances

Current Balance

Your Current Balance represents the money currently available based on your starting balance and completed transactions.

Starting Balance

This is the balance you entered as your financial starting point.

Projected Balance

Your Projected Balance shows what your balance is expected to become after upcoming financial activity is included.

Projected Balance can help you see the effect of upcoming bills and transactions before they occur.

4. Adding Income

Use Income for money you receive, such as:

  • Paychecks
  • Deposits
  • Refunds
  • Side income
  • Other incoming money

To add income:

  1. Tap Add Income.
  2. Enter a name or description.
  3. Enter the amount.
  4. Select the date.
  5. Choose a category if applicable.
  6. Add notes if needed.
  7. Choose whether the transaction is completed or recurring.
  8. Save the transaction.

Completed income affects your current balance. Future and recurring income can also be used when calculating upcoming financial activity.

5. Adding an Expense

Use Expense for money you have spent, including:

  • Groceries
  • Gas
  • Shopping
  • Dining
  • Entertainment
  • Other purchases
  1. Tap Add Expense.
  2. Enter the expense name.
  3. Enter the amount.
  4. Select the date.
  5. Choose a category.
  6. Add any optional notes.
  7. Select the appropriate transaction options.
  8. Save the expense.

6. Adding Bills

Bills allow you to record money that is due or will need to be paid.

Examples include:

  • Rent or mortgage
  • Utilities
  • Phone service
  • Internet
  • Insurance
  • Subscriptions
  • Loan payments
  1. Tap Add Bill.
  2. Enter the bill name.
  3. Enter the amount.
  4. Choose the due date.
  5. Select a category.
  6. Set recurring options when appropriate.
  7. Save the bill.

An unpaid bill can remain upcoming until you mark it completed.

7. Completing a Bill

When you pay a bill, open the transaction and mark it as Completed.

Once completed, MoneyLine includes the transaction in your current financial position.

This lets MoneyLine distinguish between money that has already moved and money that is still expected to move.

8. Recurring Transactions

MoneyLine supports recurring financial activity for regular transactions such as:

  • Paychecks
  • Rent
  • Mortgage payments
  • Utilities
  • Insurance
  • Subscriptions
  • Regular transfers

When creating a transaction, enable the recurring option and select the appropriate recurrence.

MoneyLine creates upcoming occurrences so you can see future financial activity ahead of time.

9. Viewing Transactions

Open Transactions to see your recorded financial activity.

You can review:

  • Income
  • Expenses
  • Bills
  • Completed transactions
  • Upcoming transactions

Select a transaction to view its complete details.

10. Editing a Transaction

  1. Open Transactions.
  2. Select the transaction.
  3. Choose Edit.
  4. Make your changes.
  5. Save the transaction.

When working with recurring transactions, editing an individual occurrence may only change that occurrence.

11. Deleting a Transaction

  1. Open the transaction.
  2. Choose Delete.
  3. Confirm the deletion.
Deleting a transaction removes it from MoneyLine and causes the appropriate balances and totals to be recalculated.
Deleted information may not be recoverable unless you have a backup.

12. Using the Monthly View

MoneyLine organizes financial information by month.

Use the previous and next month controls to move through your Money Timeline.

Monthly information can include:

  • Income
  • Expenses
  • Remaining money
  • Monthly balance
  • Transactions
  • Upcoming financial activity

This allows you to review previous activity or look ahead at upcoming transactions.

13. Categories

Categories help organize your spending and income.

Using categories makes it easier to understand where your money is going and provides better information when reviewing your financial activity.

For the best results, assign an appropriate category whenever you create a transaction.

14. Statistics

The Statistics section provides a broader view of your MoneyLine data.

Use statistics to review financial activity and identify patterns in your income and spending.

The information available depends on the transactions currently stored in MoneyLine.

15. Backing Up Your MoneyLine Data

MoneyLine can create a backup of your financial database.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Backup.
  3. Choose where you want to save the backup.
  4. Complete the save process.

MoneyLine Android backups use a database file containing your MoneyLine data.

A backup filename may look similar to:

MoneyLine_Backup_2026-08-18_17-30.db

Keep your MoneyLine backup files somewhere safe.

16. Restoring a Backup

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Restore.
  3. Choose your MoneyLine backup file.
  4. Confirm the restore.
  5. Allow MoneyLine to restart if requested.
Restoring a database replaces the MoneyLine data currently stored on the device with the information contained in the selected backup.

Consider creating a current backup before restoring an older one.

17. Empty Database

MoneyLine includes an Empty Database option for completely clearing the application's financial data.

This is a destructive action. Create a backup first if there is any information you may want later.

After the database is emptied, MoneyLine starts with a clean financial database and you can establish a new starting balance.

18. Updates

MoneyLine may check for application updates.

When a newer version is available, follow the update instructions presented by MoneyLine.

Keeping MoneyLine updated gives you access to the latest fixes, improvements and features.

19. Phones and Tablets

MoneyLine is designed for Android phones and tablets.

The interface may adjust based on the available screen size, so the location or size of some controls may look slightly different between a phone and tablet.

The same core MoneyLine functionality remains available on supported devices.

20. Protecting Your Financial Data

MoneyLine contains personal financial information, so you should protect access to your Android device and backup files.

  • Keep your device screen lock enabled.
  • Store MoneyLine backups securely.
  • Do not share backup files with other people.
  • Keep your device and MoneyLine updated.
  • Use care when deleting or restoring data.

Treat your MoneyLine data like any other personal financial record.

21. Troubleshooting

MoneyLine shows the wrong balance

Check your Starting Balance and review whether transactions have been marked completed correctly.

A bill has not affected my Current Balance

Check whether the bill is still marked as unpaid or upcoming.

Projected Balance differs from Current Balance

This can be normal. Projected Balance takes upcoming financial activity into account.

Newer transactions disappeared after restoring a backup

A restore replaces the active database with the selected backup. Transactions created after that backup was made will not exist in the older backup.
